The Flower Cycle of the Soul: Bud, Bloom, Blossom
Flowers hold an ancient wisdom that mirrors the soul’s journey. From the first unfurling of a bud, through the opening bloom, and into the fullness of blossom, they remind us of our own rhythms of self-love, transformation, and completion.
These cycles aren’t separate from us — they are us. And when we tune into them, we begin to remember how to live in harmony with our nature, rather than being pushed along by a system that doesn’t honour our essence.
I call this journey Seasons of Her Soul. It’s a three-part cycle — the Bud, the Bloom, and the Blossom — each holding its own medicine, each essential to the whole.
🌱 The Bud – Foundations of Self-Love
The bud is the first stage, where everything begins. It is about creating strong foundations — self-love, self-care, and nurturance. Without tending to our roots, growth and transformation can feel chaotic or overwhelming.
We live in a culture that often dismisses or distorts motherhood, rest, and feminine cycles. I’ve found, in my own life, that unravelling from these external systems starts with unravelling the internal ones: the beliefs, patterns, and pressures that pull me away from my natural state.
The Bud calls us back to ourselves. It asks us to slow down, to nurture, and to love ourselves without condition. When we create these foundations, we are better able to meet the inevitable cycles of letting go and transformation that follow.
This is why Part 1 of Seasons of Her Soul — The Bud: Self-Love — is so essential. It is the grounding, the rooting, and the remembering of who we are before we step into the unknown.
🌸 The Bloom – Transformation
After the bud begins to open, we enter the Bloom. This is the stage of transformation — of acknowledging what is ready to be released, and leaning into the rebirth that awaits.
But transformation isn’t always gentle. It can feel like being pushed and pulled between what we know and what we’re becoming. I often describe it as the “feather, brick, and train” analogy: life whispers to us with subtle signs (the feather), then louder nudges (the brick), and if we ignore these, sometimes it takes a train crashing through to wake us up.
The Bloom asks us to face the parts of ourselves and our lives that are no longer serving us. This might look like heavy repeating cycles, illness, confusion, or sudden events. In this stage, support matters. Traditionally, we would receive wisdom and guidance from elders, community, and story. Today, we can still lean into mentors, ritual, nature, and connection with others. Transformation is not about someone fixing us — it’s about us doing our own work, with support to hold us through.

🌺 The Blossom – Completion & Celebration
Once we have tended our roots and walked through transformation, we arrive at the Blossom. This is the stage of celebration, gratitude, and completion.
The Blossom is about enjoying life as it is — pausing in appreciation before rushing into the next thing. It’s about honouring all that has come before, recognising the wisdom we’ve gained, and allowing space for joy.
At this stage, we begin to seed new dreams. With expanded awareness, we can see possibilities we couldn’t before. But the key is to stay grounded: tending to self-love, spending time in nature, and living in ways that reflect who we’ve become.
This is The Blossom: Completion — Part 3 of the series. It is the moment we honour the full cycle and prepare for the next.
✨ Closing
The Bud, the Bloom, and the Blossom are not just poetic stages — they are a map for living in alignment with our essence. Each stage builds upon the other. Without self-love, transformation feels destabilising. Without transformation, we cannot fully blossom. And without celebrating the blossom, we lose the sweetness of the journey.
This is the wisdom of Seasons of Her Soul — and it is the wisdom of life itself.
